SMS Terms and Conditions

Cove Family Law, LLC

Effective Date: October 30, 2026

1. Program Description

By providing your mobile number and opting in, you agree to receive text messages from Cove Family Law (“the Firm”). Messages are limited to non-marketing, client-service communications, such as appointment reminders, scheduling and rescheduling, court date notices, requests for documents or information, and general case-status updates.

2. Consent and Opt-In

You consent to receive these messages by providing your number on our client questionnaire, signing our engagement agreement, or calling/texting the Firm first. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of retaining the Firm or receiving legal services. You may choose to communicate by phone or email instead.

3. Message Frequency

Message frequency varies depending on your case and the Firm’s need to contact you.

4. Message and Data Rates

Message and data rates may apply according to your mobile carrier’s plan. The Firm does not charge for text messages.

5. How to Opt Out

You may opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message. You will receive a confirmation, and no further texts will be sent unless you opt back in. You may also opt out by calling 256-297-3309 or emailing alexis@covefamilylaw.com. Opting out of texts does not affect our attorney-client relationship, and we will contact you by other means as needed.

6. Help

For help, reply HELP to any message, call 256-297-3309, or email alexis@covefamilylaw.com.

7. Supported Carriers

Participating carriers include major U.S. wireless carriers. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

8. Privacy and Information Sharing

Your phone number and consent information are used only to provide the communications described above. We do not sell, rent, or share mobile numbers or SMS opt-in data with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. Information may be shared only with service providers that help us deliver messages (such as our messaging platform) or as required by law. See our Privacy Policy below.

9. Confidentiality and Security Notice

Text messaging is not a fully secure form of communication. Messages may be viewed by others who have access to your phone, your account, or your carrier’s systems. This matters especially in family law matters.

  • Do not text if someone else (such as a spouse, partner, or family member) can access your phone, cloud backups, or shared plan. Let us know and we will use another method.
  • Please do not send highly sensitive information (financial account numbers, Social Security numbers, detailed case strategy) by text. Ask us for a secure method or use the Clio Client Portal if you are a current client.
  • Texts are for logistics and brief updates, not for urgent matters or legal advice.

10. No Attorney-Client Relationship Created by Texting

Sending or receiving a text message does not create an attorney-client relationship. A relationship exists only after a written engagement agreement is signed. If you are not yet a client, please do not text confidential details about your matter. Do not rely on text messages for deadlines or emergencies. If you have an emergency, call 911.

11. Accuracy of Your Information

You agree to provide a mobile number that belongs to you and to notify the Firm promptly if your number changes or is reassigned, so that messages are not sent to someone else.

12. Changes to These Terms

The Firm may update these terms from time to time. The current version will be posted and continued participation after changes means you accept them.

We do not use your information to make automated decisions that have legal effects on you.

5. Text Messaging (SMS)

If you opt in to receive text messages from us, we use your mobile number only to send the non-marketing, client-service messages described in our SMS Terms and Conditions, such as appointment reminders, scheduling, and requests for information.

We do not sell, rent, or share mobile phone numbers or SMS opt-in data and consent with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. Information may be shared only with service providers that help us deliver messages (such as our messaging platform) and only to the extent necessary to provide that service, or where required by law.

6. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Our Website may use:

  • Essential cookies, which are needed for the Website to work properly and stay secure
